URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 792 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER OLNEY MD 1200 PM EDT SAT AUG 2 2008 THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA EFFECTIVE THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM NOON UNTIL 800 PM EDT. HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 80 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS. THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 100 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES NORTHEAST OF GREENSBORO NORTH CAROLINA TO 35 MILES WEST OF SOUTHERN PINES NORTH CAROLINA.
