Excessive heat watch in effect from Saturday morning through monday afternoon, The NWS in sterling Virginia has issued an excessive heat watch, which is in effect from Saturday morning through Monday afternoon. Strong high pressure will remain over the region through the weekend, resulting in temperatures climbing into the 90s across much of northern and central Virginia and northern and central maryland, including the Washington dc and baltimore metro areas. These hot temperatures combined with high dew points will bring heat index values above 100 during the afternoon hours Saturday through Monday. Heat index values may approach 110. High pressure will move east on Monday, bringing cooler temperatures to the region for the middle of next week. An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors
