HURRICANE IRENE UPDATE
LATEST GUIDANCE SUGESTS THAT IRENE WILL MAKE LANDFALL IN NORTH CAROLINA AND SKIRT THE MID ATLANTIC COAST AND MAKE FINAL LANDFALL IN NEW YORK CITY .
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IN OLNEY HAVE ISSUED A INLAND TROPICAL STORM WATCH FOR LATE SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY FOR THE PASSAGE OF IRENE FOR THE CITIES OF BALTIMORE AND WASHINGTON DC AND THEIR METRO AREAS WINDS OF TROPICAL STORM FORCE 39 TO 73 MPH COULD BE FELT HERE ALONG WITH HEAVY RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS.
INLAND TROPICAL STORM WATCH MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITONS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WATCH AREA IN 36 TO 48 HOURS THINGS THAT ARE LOSE COULD BECOME MISSLES THEY SHOULD BE TIED DOWN OR MOVED INDOORS BEFORE CONDITIONS DETORATE .
INLAND TROPICAL STORM WATCH JUST MEANS THAT CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY FOR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS IN PLACES NOT ASSOIATED WITH THE COASTLINE OR COASTAL COMUNITIES WINDS IN EXCESS OF 39 MPH TO 73 MPH ARE LIKELY IN THE WATCH AREA.
