SPECAL WEATHER STATEMENT NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER/WEATHER FORECAST OFFICE OLNEY MD 1115PM EDT MON AUG 22 2011
HURRICANE IRENE UPDATE
HURRICANE IRENE UPDATE AS OF 11:10 PM EDT
THE LATEST GUDIANCE HAS IT CURVEING EVER SO SLIGHTLY TOWARD THE EAST BUT STILL PUTS LANDFALL ALONGTHE NORTH CAROLINA COAST AS A STRONG CATEGORY 3 HURRICANE MAX INTENSTY IS FORECAST TO BE CAT 4 OF 135 MPH WINDS WHEN ITS LEAVEING THE BHAMA’S.
LAND FALL IS STILL FORECAST TO OCCURE AROUND 8 PM SATURDAY NEAR WILMINGTON NC WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE TRACK OF THE STORM AND ISSUE STATEMENTS AS IT PROGRESSES THOUGH THERE IS SOME CERTENY THAT WE WILL SEE HERE IN THE METRO AREA BY WEEKEND SOME EFFECTS OF THE HURRICANE WHAT IT WILL BE IS NOT SURE YET IT IS TILL TO FAR TO TELL EXCATLY WHAT IT IS BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT TRACK DATA CAN BE OFF AS MUCH AS 300 MILES BY DAY 5 OR MORE SO DEPENDING ON WHERE THAT FRONT HANGS UP DEPENDS WHERE WILL GET THE EFFECTS FROM THE HURRICANE IF IT HANGS UP OVER US OR JUST TO OUR SOUTH IT WILL MINIMIZE THE EFFECTS OF THE HURRICANE IF IT HANGS UP OVER THE DC AREA IT COULD BE STORMY FOR THE WEEKEND.
