High wind watch in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning, The NWS in sterling virginia has issued a high wind watch, which is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. West winds will begin to gust between 50 and 60 mph Sunday afternoon, as a deep low pressure system moves up the new england coast. These strong wind gusts are expected to continue through mid morning Monday. Sporadic power outages may result from downed trees and power lines. In the mountains, significant tree and power line damage may result due to the additional weight of the accumulated ice, with the potential for widespread power outages. A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Wind gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
