TROPICAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NWS NATONAL HURRICANE CENTER OLNEY MARYLAND
430PM EDT SAT AUG13 2011
TROPICAL STORM FRANKLIN EXPECTED TO BECOME A MAJOR OCEAN STORM AND A NEW TROPICAL DEPRESSION LIKELY TO FORM IN THE NEXT 48 HRS
THE HIGH SEAS FORECAST CENTER HAS INDICATED THAT THEY WILL RE USE THE NAME DAMREY AGAIN FOR TROPICAL STORM FRANKLIN WHEN IT LOSES TROPICAL CHARTERISTICS AND BECOMES A EXTRA TROPICAL LOW PRESSURE AREA….
NOAA HURRICANE HUNTERS OUT OF PUERTO RICO ARE FLYING A LOW PRESSURE AREA THAT WE HAVE FLAGED WITH A 60% CHANCE OF BECOMING A TROPICAL DEPRESSION IN THE NEXT 2 DAYS SO FAR THEY HAVE NOT FOUND ANYTHING EXECPT A LOW PRESSURE AREA THAT IS ABOUT 1015 MB OR 29.97 INCHES ITS WEAK AT THIS TIME BUT IT LOOKS WELL DEFINED ON SATALITE IMIGRY AND THERE FORE WE ARE HOLDING THE CHANCE AT 60% FOR NOW IT MAY BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION OR STORM LATER ON SO FAR SFMR DATA FROM THE PLANE INDICATE WINDS ARE ABOUT 15 TO 25 MPH WELL BELOW TROPICAL DEPRESSION STATUS AND PRESSURES ARE HIGH TO STEADY.
HURRICANE HUNTERS FROM THE AIR FORCE HAD TO TURN BACK BECAUSE OF A COMUNICATION ISSUE WITH THE HURRICANE CENTER SO WE DISPATCHED A NOAA WC-130J TO TAKE ITS PLACE INVESTIGATEING THE POTENTAL TROPICAL DEPRESSION OR STORM ..
THERE IS A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE BEHIND IT THAT WE ARE KEEPING AT 30% FOR NOW ITS NOT SHOWING ANY SIGN ON SATALITE OF A CLOSED LOW BUT THEN AGAIN THE CLUSTER OF STORMS HAVE FORMED AND ARE HOLDING SO MAYBE LATER TONIGHT OR TOMARROW A NOAA HURRICANE HUNTER WILL FLY IT FROM PUERTO RICO .THE LATEST MSCAT PASS SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT A CLOSED LOW MAY BE FORMING UNDER THE CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORMS WE ARE WAITING ON THE QICKSCAT PASS LATER TODAY OR TONIGHT TO CONFERM THAT IF SO WE WILL SEND IN THE NOAA HURRICANE HUNTER TO INVESTIGATE.
