SPECAL HURRICANE STATEMENT OCEAN STORM DAMREY STATEMENT NUMBER 1 NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER/HIGH SEAS FORECAST CENTER OLNEY MARYLAND 340 PM EDT FRI AUG 12 2011
DAMREY FORMS NOTHEAST OF BERMUDA ….
NOAA HURRICANE HUNTER RECON AIRCRAFT INVESTIGATEING THE LOW NEAR BEMUDA HAVE MESURED A WIND WITH THE SFMR OF 70 MPH THERE FOR THE STORM HAS BECOME A OCEAN STORM HOWEVER DROPSONDE DATA INDECATES ITS TRANSITIONING TO A COLD CORE UPPER LATTIUDE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM THERE FOR LOSEING ANY POENTAL FOR BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE ITS BECOME A STRONG MID LATTITUDE STORM AND WILL BE FOLLOWED FOR A WHILE LONGER WITH FLIGHTS FROM ANDREWS AIRFORCEBASE IN SUPORT OF NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HIGH SEAS FORECASTS AND ANY ALERTS TO MARINERS THAT MAY BE IN THE AREA..
THE AIRCRAFT HAS DECTED THE PRESENCE OF A COLD FRONT AND WARM FRONT ON THE 2 ENDS OF THE STORM THERE FOR THE HURRICANE CENTER WILL NOT BE ISSUEING ADVISORIES ON THIS SYSTEM HOWEVER NATONAL WEATHER SERVICE HIGH SEAS FORECASTS WILL HAVE A SPECAL “NOTICE TO MARINERS” SECTION POSTED FOR SHIPS IN THE AREA OF THE STORM AND WAYS TO STAY CLEAR OF IT THE HURRICANE HUNTERS WILL PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION TO NATONAL WEATHER SERVICE FOR THE HIGH SEAS FORECAST AS THIS STORM IS EXPECTED TO GET STRONGER.
THE HURRICANE CENTER WILL CONTINUE ISSUEING STATEMENTS AS CONDITIONS WARRANT ON THIS SYSTEM AND ITS LOCATION AND MOTION AND HOW STRONG THE RECON PLANES FIND IT.
