SPECAL HURRICANE STATEMENT NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER OLENY MD 125PM EDT AUG 12 2011 MAJOR OCEAN STORM LIKELY TO FORM NOAA HURRICANE HUNDERS OUT OF ANDREWS AIRFORCE BASE MARYLAND ARE INVESTIGATEING A LOW PRESSURE CENTER NORTH OF BERMUDA AT 35.2 N AND 65.0W AND HAVE FOUND A CLOSED LOW BUT DUE TO PROXIMITY TO A COLD FRONTAL SYSTEM THE HURRICANE CENTER IS NOT GOING TO BEGIN ADVISORIES ON THIS SYSTEM IT HAS WINDS OF 50 MPH SO IF WE DID START ADVISORIES IT WOULD BE TROPICAL STORM FRANKLIN BUT DATA FROM THE PLANE INDICATES THAT IT IS A HYBRID BETWEEN WARM ( TROPICAL) AND COLD ( EXTRA TROPICAL ) SO NATIONAL WEATHER SERIVCE HIGH SEAS FORECASTS WILL REFLECT THIS DEVELOPING MAJOR OCEAN STORM .. NHC ADVISORIES WILL NOT BE STARTED ON THIS SYSTEM THERE ARE 3 OTHER SYSTEMS TO BE WATCHED 2 WITH A 40% CHANCE OF DEVELOPMENT AND ONE WITH A 20% CHANCE OF DEVELOPMENT THE ONE WITH 20 % IS MOVIEING WSW AT 15 MPH THE OTHER ONE IS MOVIEING WNW AT 10 AND THE FARTHEST MOST ONE IS MOVIENG WEST AT 15 TO 20. THE NHC WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE OTHERS IN THE TROPICAL ATLANTIC OCEAN AS THEY PROGRESS ACROSS THE OCEAN TOWARD THE CARRIBBIAN AND POSSIBLY THE US MAINLAND STAY TUNED TO WWW.NWS.NOAA.GOV/HURRICANES ALL LOWER CASE FOR THE LATEST ON THESE SYSTEMS.
