Flood Watch In effect from this evening through Friday Morning, The NWS in Olney Maryland has issued a Flood watch for portions of Maryland, The District Of columbia and northern Virginia, Including The Following areas, In Maryland, Charles, Frederick Md, Montgomery And prince georges. The District of Columbia. In northern Virginia, Arlington/falls church/alexandria, Fairfax, loudoun, Prince William/manassas/manassas park and stafford. From this evening through Friday morning Low pressure over Louisiana will be tracking northeast today. Rain from the system is expected to begin in the greater Washington dc Area after 7 pm, With The Bulk of the rain falling between midnight and noon Friday. Rainfall from this system will be nowhere near as heavy as from the storms that impacted the dc area Sunday night and Monday morning. However because of recent heavy rains it will not require much in the way of additional precipitation to cause flooding. In the greater Washington dc area totals as low as three-tenths of an inch in one hour could cause problems. A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
