THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
MARYLAND
PANHANDLE OF WEST VIRGINIA
VIRGINIA ,DELAWARE , EASTERN OHIO
SOUTHERN PENNSYLVANIA
EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 440 PM UNTIL 7:00 AM EDT. SEVERAL TORNADOES WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS ISOLATED WIND GUSTS TO 65 MPH POSSIBLE IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA .
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 85 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES NORTH OF GETTYSBURG PENNSYLVANIA TO 50 MILES EST OF MYERSVILLE ON THE EASTERN SHORE OF MARYLAND
REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
DISCUSSION...LONG-LIVED QLCS WITH A HISTORY OF WIDESPREAD WIND DAMAGE AND A FEW TORNADOES IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE EWD THROUGH THE UPPER OH VALLEY AND CUMBERLAND PLATEAU THIS AFTERNOON INTO EVENING. BOUNDARY LAYER AHEAD OF CONVECTIVE SYSTEM IS WARMING/MOISTENING... SUPPORTING A NARROW AXIS OF MARGINAL...BUT SUFFICIENT INSTABILITY. GIVEN THE VERY STRONG LOW AND DEEP-LAYER SHEAR IN PLACE... ENVIRONMENT WILL REMAIN FAVORABLE FOR EMBEDDED BOWS AND SUPERCELLS CAPABLE OF DAMAGING WINDS AND A FEW TORNADOES.
