Except for a few high clouds and an intermittent jet contrail, we finished off the work week under sunny skies coupled with cool temperatures as high's approached 50 degrees. Cooler weather will settle in for the weekend and the opportunity for showers enters the forecast as a storm system approaches on Sunday.
The Friday overnight forecast features mostly clear skies with lows ranging between 27 and 33 degrees. Saturday will begin with some sunshine but look for clouds coming in from the southwest to increase throughout the day as an area of low pressure forms and strengthens along a cold front. This weather system will keep our area cloudy on Sunday and provide a chance of rain Sunday afternoon through early Monday morning, we could even see some sleet mix in with the rain for areas north and west of the District late on Sunday. High temperatures will be in the upper 40s Saturday and the low to mid 40s on Sunday.
