...HANNA REGAINS HURRICANE STRENGTH AND MOVING TOWARD THE MID ATLANTIC STATES...
.REPORTS FROM A NOAA HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT INDICATE THAT THE CENTER OF HANNA IS FARTHER EAST THAT EARLIER REPORTED. AT 200 PM EDT...1800Z...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE HANNA WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 29.8 NORTH...LONGITUDE 78.5 WEST...OR ABOUT 645 MILES SOUTH OF WASHINGTON DC.
HANNA IS NOW MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH NEAR 20 MPH. THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. A TURN TOWARD THE NORTHEAST WITH AN INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED ON SATURDAY. ON THE FORECAST TRACK...THE CENTER OF HANNA WILL PASS ABOUT 60 MILES TO THE EAST OF WASHINGTON DC SATURDAY EVENING.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO NEAR 80 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. ALTHOUGH NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS FORECAST BEFORE LANDFALL. WEAKENING IS EXPECTED AFTER LANDFALL.
HURRICANE FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD TO 30 MILES TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 315 MILES FROM THE CENTER.
THE LATEST MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE REPORTED BY THE HURRICANE HUNTER IS 981 MB...28.97 INCHES.
